Yes, I am..I have been sewing pretty much every day since the new machine arrived..it is sooo nice, I’m kinda glad mine and my mom’s machines broke, lol.
I sewed this apron for my friend Anne who lives in Colorado, she is in an apron swap and not a seamstress, or at least that is what she thinks, so I said send me the fabric and I will whip it up for you. Here is the final product:
Here is one for Thanksgiving and fall
AND, this is not a Christmas apron, but I have had this fabric for a month or so and I HAD to finish it..
Yes, that is Maxine..too adorable if you ask me!
And…this fabric is for my dear friend Shelly’s custom apron, it just arrived on Saturday from one of my fave quilting shops Strawberry Patches in Bakersfield..I have never been to this awesome shop but my blog friend Suzanne is the owner and she carries so many fabrics and is a master quilter..Her fabrics are divine!

I got some very good news yesterday, after some very bad news on Thursday…first we found out that my mom’s sewing machine is also toast. Gone. Kaput. the good news is that my sweet mom found a Brother machine on Amazon and ordered it for herself and I can use it until I can buy my dream machine..
It’s a Brother CS6000i and looks like this
this machine has lots of decorative stitches and says its also good for quilting..I am hoping it will arrive soon, I have five aprons all cut out ready to sew..
Thanks, Mom!
Well we took the sewing machines (mine and mom’s) to the repair place in Palm Desert. Seems their tech comes in only on Thursdays, now why don’t they say that in their advertisement? Anyway, mom’s machine needs a tune up, about $89.00 and mom said it was way overdue for a servicing. Mine, however, is TERMINAL. It was a good 32 year run, old machine, but you are not important enough to me to spend upwards of $200.00 to repair you. I would rather put that money towards a newer better machine. As Carl would say, the ole singer would make a good anchor at this point.
The shop, of course had some awesome new machines, Bernina’s they were. So mom and I get a demo of their highest end machine, it embroiders, it threads itself, it’s totally computerized with windows properties, has a gazillion stitches, and it even cuts the fabric..The Bernina 830
Ok, its fabulous, I covet, but not $12,000 worth!
Another nice model is the Artista 730 at about $8,000, aw drop in the bucket.
In reality, I am looking to spend less than $1,000 but would like a machine that does some embroidery, sewing and good for quilting..I am thinking I can find a nice machine for that..
I am going to look at the Baby Lock machines…they intrigue me..another option is craigslist..I don’t mind a used machine if its in great shape!
Ok so that is the story of the machines, I shall have a running machine by Friday of this week, I hope..I have aprons and a couple other project lined up waiting to go!
#^$*(%# that’s what I said. #@^&^^&*! Ok so my oldie sewing machine, the fabulous Singer Stylist from 1978 conked out on me a couple months ago..something wrong with the needle and feed..I just kept breaking needles trying to fix it and those thangs don’t grow on trees, so needs to get to a repair shop..my mom lives close by and brought HER machine over, a newer Singer that have been using..until today. I was humming along sewing ric rac onto the skirt of a Christmas themed apron, and bam. it just slowed down and would not start up again…Carl took it apart, oiled it, etc..I have no idea what is wrong except now I have broken two machines. Will take them both to a repair shop tomorrow morning and see which is cheaper to fix. I can’t spend much 1) due to low finances here and 2) I plan to buy a snazzy machine probably after the first of the year sometime. So looking for some prayer for both these fine machines that one of them gets up and running. Oh me, oh my.
Here are a couple of machines I have been coveting
Baby Lock Ellure Plus
or
Baby Lock Esante
or
or a Bernina
Ok so I am dreaming..I can dream big..Truth be known, right now I just want one of my machines to work!
Just finished a Halloween apron and it’s too darn cute if I do say so myself!! I am done now with Halloween and will be concentrating on Fall, Thanksgiving and Christmas..If you need a cute apron let me know..if you have fabric, let me know, for a small fee I will sew it into a masterpiece!
